Breakfast with some comforting thoughts of my best friend. Am grateful at the end of the day that he suggested to just rest at the pool for the day. Regain energy. Relax. Letting go. We just read our books and I occasionaly jump into the pool. I’m invited for a most wonderful dinner at la Table d’Estublon. First some olive oil tasting, they have won an impressive amount of medals for their products. Well deserved, wonderful products! The premises of the castle are splendid. Very charming and tasteful. Thats the type of garden I can very well imagine myself to look after one day in our future. All dishes are delicious, especially the loup-de-mer will stay in my memory.
Another Junathon comes to an end. Once more, still very warm, we step out into the dark for a last loop in Fontvieille. Thank you so much for always being at my side. You are the Love of my Life.
The very last stage takes place in Fontvieille at dusk.
We walk at a steady pace, still, we walk. We’ve had a heatwave over all Europe during a good third of this Juneathon 2026. That did not make things easier but once again, we just did it. An activity and a writing piece a day. Three years in a row. Today, that’s how we conclude a lazy day by the pool topped by a delicious treat at one of the Domaine close-by. We’d need more days like this to replenish the batteries, as well mentally as physically. Grateful that today unfolded this way.
Time to wrap up.
I’ll remember fondly her saying “today I’ve had a running high”. Those days, mixing jogging and a dip in the river stand as the most enjoyable outings. Of course, we don’t have the capacity for those every day but each time we’ve been blessed by the inherent tranquility of the river, the soothing end-of-the-day taints and the relative freshness of a dip. It’s a kind of a reset, a good recipe to end a day with a bliss.
Will we continue in 2027? Time will tell, on one side I think it brings us closer as anything we decide to tackle together, keeps us fit, catalizes new memories and overall simply makes us happy. On the other side, it comes at a cost perhaps especially when a heatwave beats us over several days. We felt tired in June 2026, more than usual. Our calendar was quite packed with the convention taking place at some distance and all the preparation that goes with it. I don’t know, we will certainly mention juneathon 2027 around spring next year.
I am proud we did it again and I am happy to celebrate our accomplishment, to look back to those many early morning jogs watching nature and kicking our day sometimes bubbly sometimes numb, more trusting the process than doing it for the fun of it.
