#25
For me, first day of holiday! Busy all day with all kinds of chores around the house. A friend stopps by to hand over a painting we are supposed to bring to le Sud. At the end of the day we enjoy an Apéro and Rosé on the balcony. Temperatures are more pleasant now. We find some energy for a jog around the village, downhill and easy, we remember. We arrive at the perfect moment at the old tollhouse, everyone is leaving. We plonge into the cool water and enjoy the magic moment of a sunset - like in a movie.
For a second day in a row, I’ll need to lay on the couch to recuparate. I feel the same way as when I started my anti-allergic treatment, so heavy eyes that I have a hard time to not fall asleep.
She revives me with a lovely dinner on the balcony after which we decide to jog to the village. I squeeze in a couple of tiny extension loops as she windowshops at the interior design shop. Slowly but surely we reach the river. She suggests we use another spot for a dip, right in front of the tollhouse. Let’s try.
Still not that easy to enter, the temperature difference is so great that you need your time. That’s how I convince myself I’m not a wimp.
Once in though, it feels so good. Even though it’s about 50cm deep I can swim a bit thanks to the current, countering it. That makes actually my muscles work!
The view gets more and more impressive. The river is quiet but not still, sided by tall trees and that ancient tollhouse. That invites to stop and reset. On top of that, the sky becomes ever more scarlet. An epic display. Cadeau.
