#14 1972

This time it’s the grand tour through the Olympic park! Three little wild bunnies are greeting us. We pass by BMW Welt and the premisses of the Olympic games 1972. Tonight is the first football championship game of the german team. People line up patiently to watch the game open air. The germans later win 7:1 against Curaçao.

We stop a moment at the Memorial of the israeli athletes who got killed during those games in 1972. A sad sight. We did a good 5 km, mostly not running. Ready to go into town and try out the Afghan cuisine at Chopan.

The sun is shining, crowds enjoy the large park. We explore it further and take our time. Die Mannschaft kicks off its world cup today, many are gathering in front of big screens. Overall though, it all stays quiet. That’s something I’ve noticed over the entire weekend, be it at the shopping mall, on the streets so busy they might be, it remains low volume. I liked that, it helps not to be exhausted after 2 minutes.

In the park, there’s a memorial to the events of 1972. Images loop on a wall, pictures and testimonials share the story and the tragic end of members of the israelian delegation at the Olympic Games in Munich.

Back to the hotel, we change and head then for a lovely Afghan experience.
