#9 🥞
Slow start, pancakes on the balcony. We toy briefly with the idea of a trip to the mountains but decide against it. Sometimes, staying still feels like the better adventure. Slowing down for a couple of days really feels good. The day unfolds gently, starting with deep and meaningful conversations - the kind you don’t plan but that seem to happen naturally when time stretches out in front of you.
By mid-afternoon, we lace up our shoes and set off for the loop along the river. Many people are out, enjoying the day off along the riverbed. The path has been closed for more than a year due to landslides. It feels wonderful to be back surrounded by the sounds and scents of nature.
My thoughts return to our morning conversation about communication - how it shapes relationships and sustains them over time. I came across a sentence today that struck a chord:
“If communication is the lifeblood of a marriage, then love and respect are the heart and lungs of the relationship.”
How true that feels. I’m deeply grateful to have a partner with whom conversation flows effortlessly - and where even silence feels natural and reassuring, like two trees growing side by side, their roots quietly intertwined beneath the surface.
No I don’t wake up refreshed. She has all the pain in the world to move me an inch. And I can feel how the nice weather does not help, we should be outside today, we should make the best of this true Sunday! My sore body begs for some more easy time, no push no rush.
Astonishingly, I’m not jumping on the idea to go to the mountains, that says much about my state. I sort of make my mind perhaps on the Lac Taney. But after getting finally up and seeing that the vision is actually quite bad today despite the sun shining demotivates me. Turns out, we have to thank the forest fires in Canada for that.
The good excuse for enjoying a slow start on our balcony. You cannot beat that view. To just have the time, without having to keep an eye on the clock is a luxury we haven’t had for some time and today is just the right time for that. Plus: pancakes!
No matter how lazy and sore we feel, we head out for some jog. Today we choose a known loop, one that requires a bit more time than when we have our filled agenda. This one leads us along the Sense, in the Woods, on a suspsended bridge, at the foot of a climbing spot and above all, a place with memories. Pleasant temperatures, the families enjoying their day off, it feels like a proper summer day.
I’m thankful for having such a supportive mate, happy to adapt to my low-energy days.
