This morning I was asked where I originally come from. I explained that my origins are in the highlands. I didn’t score many points with this statement—not exotic enough.

Later, we set out for the loop we missed yesterday because of the rains. Great colours after the rain! The ferns added to a fairytale-like scene. However, do not put me in flatlands, even less so in flatlands combined with forest. No need to blindfold me and swirl me around in order to lose my sense of direction. Losing orientation in this kind of terrain happens automatically and pretty instantly. It would have been impossible for me to find my way back. Therefore, better stick close to your running coach!

But even he designed an unusual kind of loop today. As my body was signalling louder and louder that I had skipped lunch, my focus dropped quickly. I ended up gladly accepting the offer to be picked up by my driver.

Well, point proven this afternoon: I am still a highlander!

Lesson learned: think Hänsel and Gretel—bring food along so you can leave a trace behind to find your way back and snack if needed.

She’s all bubbly. I’m all sleepy.

It’s all windy, a marvel to see the wind materialized, dancing over the fields.

We take the car this time to head over direction Oberwangen. Very nice to get back to a place that used to be my default loop, in my Riedbach days (even though that was not the place little gem had in mind). Obviously I slightly forgot my left and right. We don’t exactly end up where I intended at first. But she does not seem to mind. I love it when I see her awestruck by nature. Today it was for a lizard, “loooooook, a lizard THAT big!”. Smile.

Energy will come back, I know. Still, it’s never so easy to go through those patches, even after all those years.
