Waking up is tough today - my body feels off. Joints aching, feverish without a fever. A strange kind of state. In the afternoon, a storm is brewing, but we head out anyway. I’m silently hoping not to get hit by any falling branches or trees. The rain I don’t mind - it feels refreshing. Still, there’s not much more than walking in my body.

My Beloved heads off for an extra loop along the river. I keep my brisk walking pace and let him go. He dashes off, I watch his silhouette getting smaller and smaller on this canopied path.. I let my thoughts wander for a bit, and as I reach a small Lichtung along the river, I see him - running at a fast pace on the opposite side. We both raise our arms in big gestures as he spots me too.

This moment leaves me with a big smile on my face as I continue my path through the rain.

Bashed. Her word when asking her how she feels this morning. I have a cup of coffee in my hands and I’m sorry I have to wake her up. For my part, I have the feeling that the worst of this bad patch is behind me. We’ll see.

Before the storm comes, she still suggests that we go for a few steps. I list a couple of options, 2k, 4k, 5k… We opt for the 4k. Stormy already as we leave our place. Broken branches spread on the road, we head confidently and still quietly toward the village. We smile when looking at this huge dog, running with the football in his mouth, not allowing the kids to play the way they want…

As we reach the woods along the Sense, we cross another couple, a dad and his son, slow-jogging. Reaching the greenery patch appeases me, not that I’m tense. The rain gets slowly stronger. After we crossed the bridge, she wants to send me off saying I’ll catch her up on the way home. I accept quietly, unsure how to support her at the moment.

It’s nothing easy to switch to a running pace. I try but I focus rather on the surrounding, with this kind of weather we have the nature almost for ourselves only. As I reach a clear segment of my loop, I randomly look to the other side of the river and here she is, my little gem, waving at me arms all stretched in the air. I wave back, running, having a smile she can’t see. This human makes me happy, my heart beats faster at her view.

It takes me still quite some time to catch up. We walk the last uphill together. Time to enjoy the rest of this pissaladière as today’s apero. We still enjoy life. And soon, our moods and energy will be all fine again.
